Hi, dear reader. My name is Johanna, and this is my take on how your customs probably don't fit your morals.
I was born in a countryside farm nearby a
lake, surrounded by beautiful nature. However, I had to run away at an early
age because of what I'd found out about human beings … To most of them, I'm
only food.
Actually, it's worse than that because many of
them ignore intentionally how chickens are treated in mass production farms,
and how they will be put to death.
I don't think most people would do what is
done in those farms in order to obtain meat, but as they skip that part and
only see the end product (which is what they want), it's way too easy for them
to look the other way, regardless defenceless chickens had to go through hell.
On the other hand, it's no wonder they managed
to achieve such a feat of mental suppression, as they're doing the same to
members of their own species - or did you think those clothes you so proudly
wear were made by well treated workers? (This is just an example, there are
many more).
Don't get me wrong, I'm not particularly
advocating vegetarianism. We chickens also eat meat (in the form of bugs and
worms) whenever we have a chance, however, as any other being in nature, we do
so out of need, without cruelty or hypocrisy.
In conclusion, you (human) should become a
responsible buyer, because with your purchase you're not only acquiring a
product, you're also validating the methods used to make it (however inhumane they may be).
Wouldn't it be better to obtain items whose production didn't imply abuse, suffering or disregard of the well-being of living creatures?
